Curriculum
MSN Nurse Practitioner
As our health care system and its governing policies continue to evolve, the need for highly competent and forward-thinking leaders in nursing has never been greater. Norwich Master of Science in Nursing – Nurse Practitioner tracks were created to meet that critical need.
The curriculum for each track within the Master of Science in Nursing – Nurse Practitioner program is designed in alignment with the AACN Master-Level education preparation standards — including the Master’s Essentials — as well as the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies.
Each program track begins with nine, 3-credit core courses that focus on the roles of the advanced nurse, health care systems, practice and policy, theoretical foundations of practice, research for evidence-based practice and quality improvement practice, advocacy, and technology. The remaining courses — valued at 2 credit hours each — are chosen by the nurse practitioner.
The time to completion is the same for all tracks: nine semesters (four semesters per year) with degree completion in as few as two years and three months.
