Dr. Lea M. Williams, Ph.D.

Provost and Dean of the Faculty

Dr. Lea M. Williams was appointed to serve as Interim Provost and Dean of the Faculty in August 2025. She is committed to Norwich’s long tradition of delivering high-impact experiential learning to students and strives to support faculty in creating and sustaining those opportunities that connect academic theory with lived practice. She has been a dedicated member of the Norwich community for nearly two decades. 

Beginning her Norwich journey as an Assistant Professor of English in 2006, Dr. Williams has experienced the institution from multiple perspectives, advancing through roles as Faculty Development Coordinator, Department Chair, Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Senior Associate Provost before assuming her current position as Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Williams earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon and a B.A. in Comparative Literature from the American University of Paris. She is the author of "Ellen N. La Motte: Nurse, writer, activist" published by Manchester University Press.
